In 2002 Peter and Sam Sutton established Sutton Excavations Pty Ltd focusing on earthworks and excavations for the building industry. After a period of time we decided to expand our fleet to include a mulching machine and now to date have added three more mulching machines and a 14 tonne excavator with fella buncher and mulching head under the banner of EcoClearing. Since its inception 9 years ago our business has grown considerably working hand in hand with our earthworks business.

In this period we have secured major contracts with Essential Energy, clearing under power line corridors. We have carried out work for National Parks, Byron Shire Council, Ballina Shire Council, Gold Coast City Council, Tweed Shire Council, Banora Point Upgrade Alliance and various land care groups. All of these organisations have embraced the new technology on the market today seeing the environmental and cost saving benefits. With the purchase of Australia’s first Rayco C140 and C110 (see photo gallery), Ecoclearing is constantly forging ahead on the cutting edge of the vegetation management industry. With large contracts being carried out with Essential Energy clearing under power lines with the first Rayco C110 has made the operation safer and more cost efficient.

The Rayco C110 mulcher will carry out the same duties as the Rayco C140, by track mulching camphor laurel, lantana, regrowth and any rubbish vegetation. The Rayco C110 has replaced traditional methods of dozing and burning, which caused the loss of topsoil and erosion damage. The benefits with mulching onsite is that the soil is enhanced with the very material in which you are trying to remove providing great biomass for the soil, paving the way for reforestation or grazing land. The new machine is powered by 110hp John Deere motor, has dozer tracks and winch to reach the most inhospitable areas.

EcoClearing has been carrying our the removal and chipping of the Camphor Laurel, which has been declared a Noxious Weed in this area.  Our company in conjunction with North Coast Weeds, carry out site inspections and analysis.  Along with property owner approval, Camphor Laurels are harvested and chipped on site then transported away to the local co-generation mill at condong.  Please refer to Camphor Laurel link camphor-laurel-removal.html
