POWER LINE CLEARING

Power Line Clearing

Sam Sutton - Saturday, December 18, 2010

This has never been so cost effective using modern machinery to carry out small and large power line clearing. Due to the nature of power lines and the extreme terrain in which power lines are located, Ecoclearing has researched and purchased the most extreme machines to access this hazardous country in a safe and productive manner.

Some features of the machines are as follows:
  • Extreme low centre of gravity Steel tracks
  • Large hydraulic winches enabling the machine to be winched into remote areas or material to be winched to the machine.

We also have rubber tracked mulchers enabling access over bitumen, up driveways and through backyards. Leaving only a memory of our visit, not a mess.

Ecoclearing can also provide a 14tonne excavator with a log grab, fella buncher (tree cutter), mulching head and various buckets (see Mulching Machinery). This machine combined with a dozer blade and fella buncher provides an excellent tool for corridor widening and tree trimming. This machine is a highly efficient and safe way of clearing up power line corridors.

Also available is our 24t Excavator with Pulpmate 360 degree rotating head (see Camphor Laurel Machinery).  This machine has a chainsaw bar that can clean cut through a 900mm tree trunk and control the tree and its decent to the ground.  This machine gets through a phenomenal amount of work.

Ecoclearing has a track mounted 700 hp chipper which has a infeed of 40 x 36 inches.  This is one of Australia’s largest track mounted chippers and can produce up to 60 tonne per hour.  It is very cost effective in new corridor easements and land clearing operations.

Track Mounted Spray Tank; this spray tank has the unique feature of individually activated spray nozzles, covering a 6m reach being able to spray a power line clearance in 2-3 passes. With the advent of the singularly activated spray nozzles, a corridor can be mulched then sprayed only spraying the re-growth, e.g. trees, leaving the grass.

The pressurised air conditioned tank which the operator sits in is a very safe environment, minimalising the occupational risks by traversing the ground by foot, increasing the chance of snake bite, broken ankle etc. All operators are ticketed for this work and hold chainsaw tickets as well.
